OUR PROCESS

What started as a passion project became an obsession, to revive as many historical pieces as possible. Let’s create something meaningful together.

Each piece is finished in a custom chosen stain or natural beeswax finish to maintain its original beauty and stay authentic to period processes.

It starts by stripping the piece down to its natural state. Removing any unwanted debris collected over time.

We then hand sand each piece to create an even wood color and smooth hand to then prep the piece for a custom stain or natural wax sealer.

RESIDENTIAL WORK

Look closely and you'll find the marks of its many lives: a soft scuff along the writing ledge, faint rings near a drawer front, a nick or two along the crown. We chose not to erase them. They're the handwriting of the homes this piece has already lived in — proof that it was loved before, and built to be loved again.

This secretary began its life in the late 19th century, at the height of the Eastlake Victorian era, when furniture was built to be both handsome and hardworking. It likely held a family's correspondence and keepsakes in its glass-front cabinet, and their ledgers and letters in the writing drawer below — a quiet witness to a century and a half of ordinary days.

We refinished this piece in a warm espresso stain, then hand-buffed it with a natural beeswax to a soft, protective, cured sheen — a finish chosen to deepen the oak's tone while still letting its natural grain and character show through.
