18th & 19th Century Qing Canton Porcelain

A Story of Travel — Our Qing and Canton collection holds two different chapters of the same story: Chinese export porcelain made across more than a century for a world that couldn't get enough of it. Some pieces reach back to the late Kangxi and Transitional periods, painted with the loose, confident brushwork of an early hand working within a living tradition. Others are later Qing-era Canton ware, produced through the 19th century with the beloved willow and pagoda patterns that came to define blue-and-white in homes across New England. Both were made to travel — packed by the thousands into ships bound from Jingdezhen and the port of Canton, across oceans, into the ports and parlors of a young America. Each piece here still carries that journey with it, and now it continues on, into yours.
